Language is losing its nativity

Even before i start making points about the significance of language, There is a question for all the readers. How did we as individuals start speaking? Yes, it starts with uttering words which made no relevance. But as we grow old, the influence of the surroundings starts to sink in. Native language is one of those influences for the kid during this initial phase of his/her life. The moment kid starts to speak in the language of their origin, There is a great deal of happiness that the parents tend to enjoy. That is the first stage of life, when kids grow up and reach the age of schooling. Our first interaction and importance of friends is felt here. Now, how does the introduction go on? We start with our names and then may be talk about few silly things in classroom and that is how we move on. During the 10 phases of Schooling, we continue to build in relation with the minimal of expectation. There is no existence of Status Quo here. All the time it is about trust and the value we posses for each other. It is not even for a moment's time, that we feel the importance of language. Because we pick up the language that we are comfortable and that is most likely to be the native language. But, then we enter into a phase of life, where the importance of one language is at display all the time. This is the language the world calls "ENGLISH".

Moving on from Schooling to the next phase i.e College. This time around, even parents want their kids to speak in English. This sprung up a question in my mind. Parents who were happy seeing the kid speak the regional language, have suddenly decided to switch the language to English. Why is this the case? Let's understand this question from the position of a parent. They want their children to be successful in life by fetching a rightful job. For which one of the major criteria, Is to posses powerful command on the language of English. This seems to work in favor of both Parent and child. But, this is fair as long as it is restricted to the curriculum and the place of work in case of employed individuals. The problem starts of when the same is carried over to home. Because, parents stay in the life of their children all through their lives. The point worth noting here is, How will we stand as an example for the upcoming generation. Because is language is the key mode of communication by which people express their views. What is the future is not even sure of the language that their ancestors spoke in. Food for thought guys...

This is also a reason why, most of the individuals pursing degree/post graduate programs available across universities these days have reduced in number. Where will these lead to? In the near future we may not even come across degree programs supporting these fields. Which the sad part.

As we have seen for, The influence of foreign language on our nation, Is pushing us to a stage where we are slowly but surely losing our nativity. This is precisely the time when i look up to countries like China, Japan, Korea and few other Asian countries. In these countries their national language is clearly at display on the hoardings put at Stores, Digital lights on Public vehicles.. They don't see the necessity to learn another language to make their living. But when we compare it ourselves, we have moved to a time where in the need to language is big time. So, we are left with no other option but to learn a foreign language. This is a social virus that has started to infect all of us. We as a nation will need to stop this and learn of alternative ways by which our culture and native language can be staged up.

So, i urge all the readers to encourage their native language across their culture and community. Because that is the only way by which we can safe guard the future of our native language. Please encourage the upcoming generation to take up our language to keep the national spirit intact.

Why is it easy to play with two balls on the first serve?

It has been 20 years that i had started watching tennis. But i never questioned myself about the stern test that players have to cope up with a rally that comes on with a First Serve.. Every time i watch a match and the player misses out on his first serve, I kind off get disappointed and also observe that the player as well is not happy with what he has just done. Because the second serve cannot be as fierce as the first serve, as it could lead to a double fault. In tennis just like any other sport, Balance is a key aspect. Will holding a ball in the pocket help a person play better during the rally? I wonder... But then all the players have this ability to play with the control and agility to not only play with the ball on court, but as well concentrate on the ball in their pocket.. There is a common incident in the course of a match, where the player with out his notice tends to drop the ball from the pocket and immediately receives a warning from the chair umpire.. Just in case the ball is dropped again during the rally, results in the players losing the point. Now these are the events which indicate me that tennis players deserve a lot more respect.

Now lets switch onto the Women's game. In the early years of tennis and it continued to be the case for 100 years from then on. Female tennis players, only picked a ball for the first serve and in case of a fault on the first serve, only then did they go for the second ball. They never carried the second ball in their pockets during the course of a rally. This was a huge advantage for them in comparison to the male players. Times have changed. Off late close to 70% of the female players, carry the ball in their pockets and continue to play the game in a competent manner. But, there are exclusions to this too.

Wondering what kind of a difference does it make? Yes, it makes a lot of difference. Players tend to kill time during the course of a match. There is another aspect to this too. One of the two players has a relative disadvantage of playing with an additional ball during the respective service games.

To conclude, Second Serve to me seems a better position for a player to win a point, rather than the first. But there is a point to this. If the first serve of a player remains solid through out the match, then is no point discussing the need for a second serve. But, let's not forget how difficult the game of tennis is even when the first serve goes in for a player.

The Origin of Professions should remain within us.

This topic surrounding the existence of professions has been eating up my brain for sometime now. I always wondered what makes it so Wierd, That an individual is rarely interested in selecting the profession that his/her ancestors have been doing, all through their lives.Let me quote an example from my own life. My father has been working with a Tyre company and still continues to run a business in the same industry. But, i was never forced to take up that business and that show's the greatness of being a father. Now, it is been 5 long years that i have taken up the job of an IT Professional. It seems interesting here. Just because 5 years back, I was struggling to find myself  a suitable job and now that i have completely settled down, I am asking myself this question. Which is wierd. There must never be any blame imposed on the professional field. As to what the individual is interested in, But we always have to remind overselves of the spoke's that constitute a wheel. If at all, few of the spokes on wheel start to lose their balance, then the entire wheel is under trouble. Something similar has to be understood here. Because, India is one of those countrie's where in profession was always considered of top most importance and if the future generations don't even know what their ancestor's where, Then how would they ever take up this profession?

One Sunday, I visited a near by Hair Saloon and saw an individual cutting the hair of an individual. That is when i saw a child entering the Saloon and playing with a ball smiled at me. After interacting with the kid for sometime, I asked him what he wanted to be. And to my astonishment both the Father and Son replied "Doctor". That took my be surprise. As both of them where heading into the same direction. Father, here knows the problem's that he has undergone his life and doesn't want this son to face the same problem. Which is completely fair and that is the place where Education helps a lot. But, here i am reminded of a question. Let's say 20 years from all the children with parental profession's like these, take up the field of thier interest and succeed in them. Would we find a Saloon near by? This question is both weird to the ears and as well will be absurd. Every individual born on this planet, Is destined to achieve something in life and it is upto them as to how they want to achieve it. But, can we discard our cultural driven professional values and take up any other, which will help us become rich and at the same time improve the Social Status? May be that is just not correct. Because if all the natural professions where to become extinct, then all that we will be left out with are all human creations and there will be a time, when the basic needs of a human cannot be fullfilled.

Watching Lion King on a Saturday evening, I was trying hard to understand the intent of "Mufasa", behind making "Simba" the king of the jungle and not anyone else. There was something interesting about this, Even though Mufasa was a great leader and everyone in the Jungle were happy with his rule, The throne could never be given to another animal but instead had to stay with them. This was a clear statement made by the storyline, which had a strong impact on me. Very similar to the society we live in, there are various human's destined to take up few activities in life. And we should definitely take them up and fullfill to the best of our abilities. I feel extremely sad to see that current education system, helping the individuals to pursue the field of interest. Instead, we might look at options with the current system, Where in the children are educated about the profession that they are from and how to excel in it. Who knows, In future we might find better way of cutting one's hair, Cleaning up garbage, Mailing System etc.

So to conclude, Improving/Innovating in one's own field is even more important. rather than picking professions that might end up earning money. This is by no means against individuals who pursue their own interests in carrers. But, just a suggestion to see what best we can do to sustain and also bring back the various profession's that our ancestor's performed. I by myself have never been able to achieve this and feel extremely bad about it. This post is just to remind myself, that i should remind the upcoming generation of our predecessor's where and also to other's who might be interested in doing the same with their upcming offspring's.

Few of the Culprit's are punished. How different are the rest?

It is common these days, To see various criminal events that occur in a country published across the various sources. So, in the first place why do these incidents occur? Also, are all the culprits identified? We will look at both these aspects at the micro level of the day 2 days activities and also as the various criminal offenses. So, What is an offense? Let's say a person entering the Bus and stealing money from another individual, Is named as a "Pickpocket" and sees himself behind the cell. But, why did this incident occur in the first place? This might make us assume, that the person had undergone many challenges in his life. Should this individual be punished? I don't think so. Because, this will further aggrevate the indivual's interest to steal even more and will eventually become dangerous to the society that he lives in. So, what is a better way of handling this situation? Let me rekindle the old memories. When i was in school, I was extremely bad at understanding few subjects. So, like any other parent my Parents too suggested me to take up Tuitions. How does that help? It is simple. When you have a problem and cannot solve it by yourself, All that you need is additional support from the indivuals you are surrounded by to guide you with the right approach. Let's get back. Can we do something similar in case of handling criminal offense? Yes, we definitely can. Prison is not a solution to all these problems. I will put them down at the end of this post.

All that i have stated so far, Are specific to the lowest level of crimes. But, there are various levels at which crimes occur and not all culprits are treated equally. Let's look at another example, where in the thief stole close to 2.5 crores from a business entrepreneur. In this case the culprit will definitely be treated in a more heinous manner. Now, what kind of difference can we observe between the incidents listed here? Yes, there is influence from the individual who suffered the loss because of this  act. It is not because of the total amount involved in the crime, rather it is more due to the power that individual tends to posses. There is indifference here. But, can this go un-noticed. Just, tracking this act in news for few days and later ignoring it will not help. Because, we are potentially looking at an invidual's carrer being spoiled with just a single act. I am not trying to justify his act, but we are trying to identify opportunities to solve this problem. Let's swap the situations and observe how different the situation have been provided the person involved in the act is a public model. In this case the issue is intially being propagandized, but is eventually provided a favor to the individual as the days move on. Here again we see a difference in which the issue is tackled. Also, even if the social status of the individual is impacted over a period of time, he/she has a chance to pursue his carrer. Where as in the previous situations, the individual becomes incapable and is just not in a situation to gain control of his life.

Let's now look at potential ways to solve this problem. What if prisons were not about just holding prisoners and making them serve term of few years. Instead, can we have an option where the individuals are questioned on their personal issues and the turmoil that their families are undergoing. Because, these culprits are the bread makers of their respective families. Also, they should be provided with an opporunity by the goverment, where in the uneducated get the necessary money to serve their family. Here, i consider employment for these culprits to include various fields like Contractual Projects and Temporary assignments. We will have to remember that the solutions are specific to jobs that donot need educational background, but with minimal training on the respective fields of work. So, how will this help the individuals? First up, you are avoiding any future criminal offenses from them and at the same time, We are also assured that the overall crime rate will come down.

On a lighter note, I would like to share that we as individuals tend to commit crimes which might go un-noticed. Leaving to office on a specific day, Your kid comes all the way running at you asking for a scribbling pad and a pen. What is your response to this question? You will definitely get it on the same day and had it over to the kid. But where did you get it from? Did you pick these from your office, as they are provided for the office work? Or do you buy it from a near by stall. If, you have chosen the first option, then this is for you. Is it fair in the first place to give your kid an item, that was not purchased. But, instead was stolen? Stolen might sound a strong word. But that is how it is. Next time around, if you are trying this act at your office, Think for a moment.

Vehicles have all the space to rest, But humans don't

Every time i think of the Human needs, One thing that constantly comes to mind is shelter. Yes, it might sound strange to think of this, with the concrete jungle we live in. "Parking Lot" is one space which i can think of that definitely fulfills these needs for the vehicles. But have we forgotten about the same for Human beings? Yes, that is definitely the case. How often do we see a car/bike stranded in Rain? Against the same with human beings who get drenched? So, why do we need the parking space for vehicles at almost all the public places? Can't they remain outside the premises? This is precisely the problem. We have been treating non-living things to be important than the one's who live amongst us. Did, this system exist in the past? Yes it did and it was minimal. But in the current world it has drastically increased. So, since when did this problem start increasing? and what is the best way to handle this system? That, is exactly what i am going to elaborate on, taking into consideration my personal experiences.

In the first place, How long do we travel in Car/bike on a daily basis? Say an hour or two right? But, they remain stranded in excess of 20 hours each day? This is the origin of the self inflicted wound, as i would like to name it. In the past, We made effective use of the public transport available for all us. But, the moment individuals decided that the luxury is now a need, That is when every one believed that possession is more important than necessity. This lead to two things, First up you needed additional place for the vehicle to be parked in addition to the place we live in and then there is another component of the natural resources, that gets consumed. Which spoils the environment we live in. All this again points to one simple point i.e Space Management. We have started consuming more space for the vehicle and we are left out with absolutely no shelter or space for the humans to live. An interesting fact that i would like to state here, Is the overall space used up by the Parking places across the nation. It is close to 10% of the total space that we are provided with. Shocking right? Yes, that is exactly the world we live in.

Now that i have spoken about, the amount of time that the vehicles stay stranded in the parking lot. There is also another side to it i.e. The amount of time for which they remain unused. Yes, this definitely happens. Let's divide this into two cases. In the first case, Let's talk about the the Residential property's that people live in. Preferably the ground floor or the basement as the most common case is, The entire area of a plot is used just for parking? Just imagine the amount of space used up here, Which could otherwise have remained an option for people to take shelter. Now, let's look at the other side i.e the Commercial Property's, Just imagine yourself as an individual who goes out on a day for shopping or to watch a movie. How much time do we spend there? Say 3 or 4 hours. But, what happen's next. As the day moves on, We are looking at close to 10 hours of unused space in these huge buildings. Another foolish aspect to these parking lot's is.. Yes, you have to pay for it. Ever wondered, Why do you have to pay, just for the sake of leaving your car idle? Are these parking lot's providing you with any services? No, then why do they make money out of things which remain idle?

So what is the solution that i can think of? It is very simple. Just make it a place for the poor to take up shelter. When there is so much of space for the Car's and Bike's. Why not use for the people to live in? If, every Property developer can think of a moment before they raise these huge building all the help that they can provide for all the humans sleeping on the streets,It will not only help them by overcoming several injuries that occur due to the late night driving on the streets, But it will also help them from getting attacked by several diseases. Also, we can look at this as a potential opportunity for the poor to be employed in these buildings, which will help them earn the daily bread which every individual needs.

Education is Less Equal and more Unequal

Education is the first step to understanding the world we live in and which eventually helps in growing individuals. But there are few significant problems that seem to constant spoil the environment of education. Let's look at them. How many of you as Parent's now and kid's in the past have observed the scenario of Age difference between various students in class? Even till this date, Schools don't accept students with a certain age limit. For example, When you say the Kid turns age of 3 after the month of July, Where as the school clearly states the age criteria to be 3, on or before the month of June to be accepted in Lower Kindergarten. So, what happens here? A student joins the grade a year later than he/she is supposed to. Is this fair? I don't think so. Why should a kid suffer, Just because they were born a month or two later than the specified. These are things which are beyond human control and is completely unfair from the School's to differentiate kids based on this age criteria. A better way of handling students, who are rejected because of this disgusting situation should definitely be taught in a dedicated classroom and more efficient manner, rather than just rejecting them.

If Grade and Marks are the only reasons behind sending your kids to school, Then the upcoming content is definitely for you. So, what are these grades? A+,A,B+ etc.... What do we understand by these things? It was always tough for me to understand things like these during my school days. The schools as such are known to be places, where everyone is supposed to treated equal. Then, why do you want to differentiate people with this term called Grade? It is disappointing to say that Schools, have become a place of brining in differences between people. Let me share few personal experience during school days, The top 10 rankers/graders were always seated in the First few rows and as you go along the various rows in the classroom, You would definitely observe a decrease in the grade's students gained. Is this the real intent behind education? Also with parent's, it has always been the case of preaching their kids saying, "Sit with people who are intelligent", rather then stating "This is the right time to find friend's who will stay with you all through your life". The basics of education are no longer sustaining. Also, how satisfied will you be looking at a report card which says "1st Rank", rather than stating then the kid is interested in the field  of "Science", "Maths" or "Arts"? This being the first stage of our life, Should we not determine our interests? Instead of just being proud of gaining marks and grades.

Let's focus on a trend that is famous these days. The statement of "100% Percentile by All the School Students" is proudly hanged across various school compounds. This attracts various parents to immediately board their students in to these schools. Why? Just because the schools have trained teachers who can force students to gain the best. But, there is one thing that is not put up on these school walls. "We pick only the best students". What happened here, is a clear demonstration of the current education system. The school filters out all the weak students by providing an invalid reason and then the best of the bunch and are further trained to be made even better. This results into the weaker section of the students not receiving the necessary education to improve themselves, there by remaining at the same level and few of them even discontinue their education because of this difference. This is precisely the standard at which schools need to start analyzing to the improve the current level of educational reach in our country.

This is one of those fields, where in until and unless the education board as a whole, decides to provide equal education to each and every person of this country, It will continue to remain a problem. Also i urge the readers to understand the significance of education, by providing more importance to the culture and vision of the kids at the earliest, rather than just aiming for the highest score. This will only result in causing ridge among individuals.

Childish Innocence

Every kid coming to this world is blessed. But there is one special quality about them, Which attract's lot of attention. I call it "Innocence". Every now and then when i look at a kid's face, The innocence and the trust that i see in their eyes makes them special. It brings tear to my eyes just imagining the way i enjoyed the way being small. As the saying goes "Two kinds of people live happily in this world. One with all the knowledge and the Kid". As kids ,we never carried the attitude of thinking about problems, the complexities of life and many more as they go. But of late, as the generations have moved ,there have been huge changes in the way kids behave. The kids of the present are just not the same as we once were. I would definitely like to rekindle and the past and compare it with the current situation, to understand the most beautiful aspects that the current generation has lost and will continue to lose until we bring in few changes.

1980's, this might remind people of many things, The bollywood revolution, India's glorious world cup victory and the dominance in International cricket, The round-dial telephones,Typewriter's etc. These fond memories still live with me and will continue to do so ever after. As kids, we enjoyed spending time with parents asking them all the weird questions possible, which do not have relevant answers. Then as life moved by, there were many things which became part of a child's life. Every now and then playing with the telephone for prank calls. troubling mom in the kitchen and finally asking father for all the help possible. I once picked up the album containing the family photograph and noticed Father's hair to be in lighter shades of Grey. So i picked up a black sketch pen and painted his hair with black. That was the moment when my mother came in and shouted at me saying that you have spoiled the photograph. My response to mother was, "I just changed it to what i saw real". The photograph just didn't indicate reality. This moment just reminds of how innocence in a child can help him think, which would otherwise have not existed in the first place. Similarly i enjoyed hitting the keys on the typewriter, tearing the newspaper even before Father started reading it. Cartoons of course played a great role in a child's imagination. Everyday coming back form the school, there was only one thing that run through my mind "World of Fantasy". Watching episodes of "Swat Kats", GI Joe, Duck Tales, Tales Spin, Popeye and the favorite one "Tom & Jerry". So how did this help us. I would always tell my sister to be the Cat (Tom) who keeps chasing the Rat (Jerry) and that was definitely me. This world of imagining things and comparing them with reality was all because of what we saw. Now all these things that i had done as a kid, Would just not have occurred if "Innocence" was missing. That is why i always believed it to be one of the most significant qualities of a kid.

Now, it is time to come back and start talking about the current situation. What do kids play with these days? Mobile devices, Remote's, Laptop's, Tablet's and a long list of electronic items which will never end. Each kid of the current generation clearly understand's what she/he is doing from a tender age. What will this lead do? Let's say 15 years from now when the kids turn into teenagers, will they have these moments of joy filled with innocence that they can recollect? I don't think so. All the time is going to be used to fill up the brains with abundant knowledge resources that have started coming up. In a recent article published in "The Hindu" titled "Superman in Me No longer lives".It starts with the author questioning selected kids on "What according to them are the three biggest problems they see on this planet?". He was happy to look at the response, but the same time he was shocked. Wonder Why? Here are the responses. 1."Please save the planet by reducing the emission of Carbon Dioxide", 2. "Governments attention to Water Scarcity" and 3." Food and shelter for the Poor". Putting myself in this situation, I would have answered "More Chocolates", "School timings of 4 hours" and "Watching Cartoons". So, isn't there a difference right here? The children of the current generation are growing at rapid pace. What has this done? You no longer tend to ask questions like "Why do i see the SUN in morning, But not in night?" Because you have already know the answer to it. Innocence only exists where you are free from this pressure of constantly updating yourself with all the latest trends. This not only dismissed your chances of being creative but at the same time the factor of uniqueness is lost to.

My dear friend "Innocence" according to me is to derive sense out of things which don't make any relevance. Having said that, there is every possibility of triggering thoughts, which would not have occurred elsewhere. The current generation is heading in the wrong direction all the way from a child's birth. Unless we stop this burden of peppering too may things, our kids will never have "Innocence". And the lives will be incomplete without it. I urge all the readers to give their kids all the time to enjoy and help them be a better soul, rather than making them just another set of humans.
